1. 偏旁 Radical:

土

The radical “土” is called “土字旁[tǔ zì páng]” . It’s often used on the left side of a Chinese character. And it’s usually related to soil, land or buildings.

从上到下，从左到右；

先横后竖， 先撇后捺。

The way of writing Chinese characters:

from top to bottom, from left to right;

horizontal before vertical, left-falling before right-falling.
